Where to Post In the DSI Community

One of my many duties here at DSI is to moderate, monitor and otherwise police the DSI Customer Success Community, I notice that often time our member will post a question into a community space that may not be the most appropriate for their specific question. Its easy to understand why, since early on in the deployment of our new community platform (Higher Logic) the community was essentially imported from the old platform and there wasn't any descriptions on the various community spaces in the overall community. So, I thought I would spend a little time helping our members understand what spaces are available and how best to use them by post this blog in the Community FAQ space.

First of all to get the most out of the DSI Customer Success Community you need to understand that the community is broken into subject matter areas designed to enable our members to post these questions into area most frequented by sub matter experts in different parts of the many DSI solutions. Each community member joins a community space or spaces based on the area(s) that most closely match their skills and knowledge of the of their specific DSI solution.

Within the overall Community there are 6 main areas of knowledge or specialization if you will. They are;
  • Community FAQ
  • Education
  • Platform (MEP)
  • Platform Applications and Development (MEP Development)
  • Enterprise Printing Platform (EPP)
  • Cloud Inventory (DSI Cloud Inventory Solution)
The Community FAQ and Education spaces are available to the general membership, meaning that you do not have to join the community section to see the content within that area. However the remaining sections are for members of that section. When you access a section that you do not currently belong to you will see a "Join Community" button near the upper right hand side of the page. See example below.

If you don't join a community section you will have limited access to the content and will not be able to post to that area. You can join one or many Community areas within the overall community and you will get a digest of community activities based on how you choose to receive those updates along with emails about replies to posts or comments you have made.

Recently we have updated the description on each area of knowledge to help our members determine what area(s) there skills, job or DSI solution responsibilities most align with. Generally most member end up belonging to multiple subject matter areas. To help you determine what area(s) you may want to join and where you might like to post specific types of questions I have provided a summary of each of the community area mentioned above.
